Things are finally starting to cool down for winter. That means snow could very much be on its way. With snow comes hazardous driving conditions! Therefore, it is important to know just what to do if the road is covered with a blanket of snow. The following are tips for driving in the snow.
- Accelerate and Decelerate Slowly
You should always use caution when accelerating and decelerating. This is even more important when there is snow on the ground! Don’t start or stop too quickly during inclement weather.
- Turn off Cruise Control
While a nifty feature, cruise control is not to be used during snowfall. While snow is on the ground, you need to be in control of your speed, not the car’s automated system.
- Don’t Stop on Hills
If you encounter a hill during your drive through the snow, proceed with caution. Going down a hill can be dangerous if you lose control. However, stopping while going up a hill can be even more dangerous as your vehicle could start to slide backward!
No matter what kind of roads you encounter in the snow, drive with caution and stay safe!
