Mazda astonished visitors at the Tokyo Motor Show with a beautiful RX-Vision Coupe. That momentum continued to pick up overseas at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. There, Mazda blew everyone out of the water by revealing its latest CX-9 SUV.
Boasting the Kodo design language, the Mazda CX-9 SUV looks like a premium SUV while maintaining a family look. The headlamps and chrome grille are just right for driving kids to school in the morning.
Under the hood is a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with a new degree of exhaust pulsation. The turbo lag of previous CX-9s is gone for good. The engine is also equipped with a cooled gas recirculation system.
That system takes some of the exhaust gas produced by the engine, reduces the temperature, and injects it back into the air intake. All in all, it effectively cools the engine and allows for a higher compression ratio.
The newest CX-9 is 198 lbs lighter than the previous model when equipped with all-wheel drive. When equipped with front-wheel drive, the vehicle is 287 lbs lighter.
The Mazda CX-9 SUV also rocks out with an active all-wheel drive system that takes information from 27 sensors. Active safety technology, including lane keeping assist and auto emergency braking, also comes standard.
We here at Hawk Mazda can’t wait to see the new CX-9 hit our lot!
